International students at Singyeongju University are strongly advised to open a Korean bank account for tuition payments, scholarships, part-time salary, and daily living expenses.
The account closing form should be accompanied by unused checks and check books, as well as debit and ATM cards associated with the account. Alternatively, the bank may ask the account holder to destroy the debit/ATM cards instead of returning them to the bank.
Banks prescribe a standard from for closing a bank account, which needs to be filled up citing the reason for closure. All the account holders must also sign the closure form.
International students may engage in part-time employment only after receiving prior approval and meeting eligibility requirements.
Holders of a student visa (D-2) (Excluding students with F types of visa) Those who have a certain level of proficiency in Korean language and have excellent grades in the previous semester For English track courses, TOEFL (iBT 71), IELTS 5.5 or higher score is required. However, students from countries whose native language is English are exempt from submission. Those who are residing in Korea and confirmed by international student coordinator at Office of Global Affairs
Students taking extra semesters due to unmet graduation requirements (e.g., insufficient credits) are not eligible for part-time work. However, research students who have completed all required credits may work up to 30 hours per week (limited).
