Closing Your Bank Account
The account closing form should be accompanied by unused checks and check books, as well as debit and ATM cards associated with the account. Alternatively, the bank may ask the account holder to destroy the debit/ATM cards instead of returning them to the bank.
Procedure
Banks prescribe a standard from for closing a bank account, which needs to be filled up citing the reason for closure. All the account holders must also sign the closure form.
International students may engage in part-time employment only after receiving prior approval and meeting eligibility requirements.
Application Eligibility
Holders of a student visa (D-2) (Excluding students with F types of visa) Those who have a certain level of proficiency in Korean language and have excellent grades in the previous semester For English track courses, TOEFL (iBT 71), IELTS 5.5 or higher score is required. However, students from countries whose native language is English are exempt from submission. Those who are residing in Korea and confirmed by international student coordinator at Office of Global Affairs
Allowed Time
Undergraduate Students
- Up to 10 hours per week (1st–2nd year students)

1st–2nd Year: Up to 30 hours (weekdays) or unlimited hours (weekends & vacations) if one of the following Korean proficiency requirements is met:
- TOPIK Level 3 or higher
- KIIP Level 3 or higher (Korea Immigration & Integration Program)
- King Sejong Institute: Intermediate 1 or higher, or pre-evaluation test score of 61 or above

3rd–4th Year: Up to 30 hours (weekdays) or unlimited hours (weekends & vacations) if one of the following Korean proficiency requirements is met:
- TOPIK Level 4 or higher
- KIIP Level 4 or higher
- King Sejong Institute: Intermediate 2 or higher, or pre-evaluation test score of 81 or above
- Students in extra semesters are not permitted to engage in part-time work.
Graduate Students
- Less than 15 hours per week

Up to 35 hours (weekdays) or unlimited hours (weekends & vacations) if one of the following Korean proficiency requirements is met:
- TOPIK Level 4 or higher
- KIIP Level 4 or higher
- King Sejong Institute: Intermediate 2 or higher, or pre-evaluation test score of 81 or above
Research Students
- Students preparing a thesis after completion of coursework may work up to 30 hours per week.
GKS Scholars
- Less than 20 hours per week
- During weekends and vacations, working hours follow the regulations based on the degree program.
Students taking extra semesters due to unmet graduation requirements (e.g., insufficient credits) are not eligible for part-time work. However, research students who have completed all required credits may work up to 30 hours per week (limited).
Restricted Fields
- Private tutoring as defined by the Operation of Academy and Private Tutoring Act
- Work in advanced industries or laboratories involving industrial secrets
- Employment related to gambling activities
- Work at adult entertainment establishments (e.g., pleasure bars)
- Employment violating public morals as defined by the Moral Business Regulation Act
- Language teaching activities
- Any other activities deemed inappropriate for student status or restricted by the Attorney General
